Connecting Periscope to your Dashboard
Here’s a step by step guide to connecting Periscope to your Dashboard.
First, head to your Castr Dashboard, then select publish platform, and pick Periscope.
2. Then head over to Periscope.tv. You can log into your profile in a number of ways. Either with Facebook, Twitter, or Google. Pick your preferred method, then head to your producer page. You’ll find the stream key and URL there.
3. Copy your key and URL to the Castr dashboard and save the connection. You’re now connected to Periscope.
But what do you do when you go live on your encoder and don’t see a video on your producer page? Periscope has very specific encoder settings you have to follow in order to stream to their service.
Let’s use OBS as an example. Head over to settings page and then click on the video tab.
Make sure to set your rate control to CBR, the birate to 2500, and the keyframe to 2. Then head over to the audio tab and set the bitrate to 128.
Now head over to the video section and set your FPS to 30 and your output resolution to 1280x720.
Once all you add all those settings, click apply and then OK. Now you can test your stream to Periscope and you should see it go live.
Unfortunately, these are the strict settings required by Periscope. However, they work across all other platforms like Youtube, Facebook, and Twitch.
